If you’re not having the right relationship with your bank, look elsewhere. There was a time when Newman Scott lost us about £400,000. As a family we had all of our businesses in the one bank, and our bank manager said we either had to close Newman Scott down, or sell it. So we changed banks. The business now is in the top 20 best shop fitting companies.
It comes back down to your character and how much you believe in your business. We felt we had a good business and good people in it, we just had the wrong strategy, so we restructured it. So bank managers, if you have a good one, are a key part if you’re expanding your business.
