I learnt a lot out of selling my business. When I started the business I had a minority partner. When he saw the cheque for the sale, he just went loopy! It sounds arrogant, but he believed he was the cause of the success of the business, and believed then that whatever he touched would turn to gold.
Whether it’s your business or somebody else’s, if you don’t put the effort in, you don’t achieve success. When he got the seven figure cheque he just basically stopped working on the basis that he didn’t have to. Everything would come to him. But neither business nor life is like that.
