Defining Moment
It did feel like a risk to set my company up, but I was at a stage in my life where it was really a case of ‘now or never’.
I studied journalism at college back in the early nineties but due to my lack of interest in shorthand and inability to understand the concept, which was essential then, I dropped out and went on to study marketing and PR.
When I moved to New York I began writing again. I became well known in my field of hip hop journalism, writing for numerous outlets and working with innumerable artists, labels producers and managers.
As a single mother, I needed to support my daughter. When I realised writing doesn’t necessarily pay the bills, and freelancing wasn’t the way to go, I decided to set up my own marketing and media company.
