I had so many people saying I really needed to go and find a proper job, get back into the workforce and forget all this. When everything got too much I ended up picking up the phone to go back into the recruitment industry. I gave the guy my profile and he said he wanted me to come down and start with them but then offered me half the salary I’d been used to. He said they probably wouldn’t have been able to afford me four or five years ago but now they could. I asked the reason why and he was basically, without literally saying it, that because I’m a single mum I have much less market value. They took liberty of me I think and that’s when I said, I’ve got to do this, and I set up my new business.
