I forged a very successful career for myself working in the pharmaceutical industry eventually working my way up to a senior management position. But I think its very hard to make that step and leave a stable, well paid job to do something on your own, even with the desire and yearning to do so. You become very comfortable and content with what you have.
The opportunity for me finally came when I had my son. I left my job and decided to start training as a medical herbalist, completing a BSC degree. Whilst studying I was involved in a service that provided the alternative therapy industry with the latest academic research.
Although it proved to be a very good concept with professional alternative and complementary therapists alike, the service eventually stopped.
I saw the potential in the service and had ideas of how to expand it. Five years after leaving my job I started Green Files, a quarterly publication providing updates on research and reports on clinical trials, articles and seminars for those who need to keep up to date with the latest developments and news as part of continuous professional development.
