A.We’ve worked with both those who want to get involved and those who put the money in and walk away. A great example of how the right investor can add a huge amount of value was when one of our investors suggested that it would be a good idea to get Microsoft involved in the business. He rang Bill Gates!

A.It’s important to understand how VC deals work. And to understand the value they will create for your business – value that you couldn’t create on your own. And part of that value will be through the contacts they can bring. If you’ve found the right investor and the match is good, you should welcome their involvement. Be prepared to learn and develop your skills and management. 80% of all businesses don’t get to year 5. But 80% of business that invest in their management development DO get to year 5.
